Need a bit of advice

Hello people

Hope you are all well

I'm looking to do a 2 way holiday to Singapore for 3 days and then thailand for 11 days from the 30th of October till the 13th of November. The only reason i want to go to singapore is because i have family over there so i was thinking whilst travling to thailand i might as well pop down to singapore for about 3 days just to say hello.

So LHR to SIN £520 with Singapore airlines then from SIN to BKK with Tiger Airways £100 and finally from BKK back to LHR with Thai airways £470 (total £1090)

Now the flights with 'one way' tickets costs alot more than your normal 'return ticket' so i was thinking of buying a return ticket from LHR to BKK with Thai airlines and then flying straight from BKK to SIN on the first day with Tiger airways. By doing this im going to be saving £300 but will have to take an extra flight. The only thing is i will be entering Thailand and then heading straight out to singapore on a different airline then. From what i am aware does this mean i have to collect my bags in BKK exit the airport and then check-in again as im on a different airline? If thats the case ill be entering Thailand leaving Thailand and then Re-entering in the space of 4days.....is their any laws against this or is it fine?

Sorry if its a bit of a read but could anyone offer me some advice or is what the i'm planning it look okay?

Going to be my second visit to Pattaya :)

Looking at it. Here's my 2 cents

31 October - LHR to SIN Flight BA11

4 Nov SIN to BKK on CX712

12 Nov BKK to LHR on BA10

(punch those dates into a website like bestflights.com.au viathe multi stop function

3 direct flights, minimum fuss and getting a price of $1326, which at exchange rates is about 870 quid

Doing it your way, yes you would have to collect baggage in bangkok before rechecking in for tiger flight

Option A - Pick up your bags and check in again baby. If you are unlucky you might arrive with a hoarde of other fuckers and stand in line for a while. Then you can go upstairs and do the check in thing.

Option B - Now me, I would only take carry-on bags. I would do the web checkin for Tiger and so I would have my boarding pass for Singapore with me. Then I would transit at BKK airport negating the need to out and back into Immigration.

That is by far the easiest thing.

If you insist on carting checkin luggage you will be doing Option A. ie a fair bit of fucking around. Try hard to do carry-on only. On the way home take as much stuff as you want and check in.

No issues leaving/re-entering for us nice countries.....

Check prices with the following airline sites.

Tiger

Jetstar

Air Asia

Usually if you fly with say Thai the price to add on Singapore, with a stopover on return, is not that much more than LHR-BKK.

Thanks for the post Bell ringer, 3 direct flights would be great, like you said its less fuss but obviously would like to book through a british company or does it matter?

It shouldn't matter. As long as the site allows you to choose 'multi-city' you should see the flights. As CX is affiliated with BA, maybe even www.ba.com can do it

I would need to check-in baggage so would be option A but the idea of option B is would of been excellent if I didn't need any baggage.

Is it okay to leave the leave the country then and re enter a few days later

I'll keep checking the flights, just a shame the one ways tickets are just as expensive as the return tickets :(

I'm not an expert so take my advice lightly.

If you buy separate one way tickets, you'll probably have to check in and pick up your luggage at each stop. But if you buy your whole trip from one airline they will probably check your luggage all the way thru to your final destination.

Dont buy one-way tickets with the main airlines, they will stiff you real hard. Book LHR-BKK-LHR. Plenty of flights from BKK to Singapore.

You can get an open jaw ticket for about the same rate as a return ticket, so buy:

LHR->SIN + BKK->LHR as one itenerary. Most websites let you do this. Look at kayak.com if you haven't tried that yet.

Then get the SIN->BKK flight with tiger.

I am doing something similiar. Try booking directly on the airline. I know with Lufthansa does not seem to charge more than a few dollars if you are flying out and back with them or their code-share.

Gentleman. one thing not mentioned here yet a big flaw to one of the plans is that the budget airlines now fly from

a DIFFERENT airport, all budget carriers have moved to Don Mueng, this will take 90 mins to get between airports.

Best idea do a return to BKK, have 10 days in Patts then down to singapore then stay one night in BKK before getting your return flight.

Hope this helps
