BANGKOK, Aug 24 - A drug dealer was killed Friday in an exchange of gunfire with police and one million methamphetamine pills with a street value of about Bt300 million were confiscated.

Anti-narcotics police raided a house in the Bangkok suburb of Sai Mai after tracking drug trafficker Suthee Suwanyusiri, who was on his way to receive delivery of 1.5 million methamphetamine tablets from Sitthichai Kudthieng.

As suspect Suthee arrived at the house and saw police, he attempted to escape and then exchanged gunfire with them.

Police shot Mr Suthee dead, while his accomplice, Mr Sitthichai, was arrested.

Mr Sitthichai confessed that he was hired to carry the meth pills from another house and waited for Mr Suthee to pick them up.

National Police Chief Pol Gen Prewpan Dhamapong, inspected the crime scene himself, saying that the slain drug dealer was one of those on the police most wanted list of drug syndicates. The seized drugs were smuggled from the North to sell to drug addicts in inner Bangkok and Klong Toey area. (MCOT online news)
