A 26-year-old Indian tourist was robbed by a pickpocketing ladyboy on Sukhumvit Road. As he was fighting the ladyboy, some passing teenagers thought a woman was being beaten, so they began beating the tourist, allowing the ladyboy to escape.

PATTAYA – August 22, 2012 [PDN]; at 12:50 a.m., Pol. Lt. Pallop Ringrod, Deputy Inspector, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province, was notified that a foreign tourist was beaten by a ladyboy and several teenagers, and had his property stolen.

He rushed to the scene with a police team to the red light intersection at Sukhumvit road, central Pattaya, Moo 9 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

At the scene, police found the victim waiting for assistance on the roadside near a park in central Pattaya. Volunteer police were assisting him.

The victim was identified as Mr. Prem Preanav Priyadarshi, age 26, from India. He was still shaken and frightened, with his body showing traces of being beaten.

Mr. Prem told police that he had been crossing the street at the red light intersection, when a ladyboy riding a motorbike asked where he was going. The ladyboy then offered to give him a free ride to his hotel.

But while Mr. Prem was refusing her kind offer, the ladyboy had pickpocketed his wallet and mobile phone. So Mr. Prem tried to grab his property back, and they started fighting.

During their struggle, three or four teenagers in a passing car mistakenly thought that a woman was being beaten. So they stopped and began beating Mr. Prem. As Mr. Prem was being beaten by the teens, the ladyboy rode away with his stolen property.

Meanwhile, volunteer police saw the fighting as they were driving past. They stopped and tried to arrest the group of teenagers, but the teenagers escaped in their car and drove toward Third Road in central Pattaya.

Mr. Prem reported that the ladyboy had stolen his credit card, a Blackberry mobile phone, and $1,000 U.S. dollars.

The police brought the victim to the investigation officer at Pattaya police station to give more information and evidence. Officers will hurry to follow up to arrest the group of trouble makers to prosecute according to the law.
