Body from Phuket pub fire confirmed as Briton

BANGKOK, Aug 22 - One of four bodies recovered from last week's Phuket pub fire was identified as a Briton, and the identification of the other three bodies will be known within two days.

Michael Pio Tzouvanni, 24, was identified by dental records and DNA samples from a relative. Accrding to the forensic examination, the victim died due to smoke inhalation in the fire at the Tiger Pub and Discotheque in Phuket.

Joseph Tzouvanni, the victim's brother, confirmed the identification at the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital in Bangkok.

Mr Tsouvanni declined to be interviewed as he was is grieving his brother’s death. Following completion of the autopsy, a death certificate will be issued and the body will be returned to his family for a religious ceremony.

DNA samples of persons missing in the accident have been received and the identities of the three other bodies, one male and two females, will be known in several days. (MCOT online news)
