A Swedish man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a New Zealand man to death in a bar fight in Thailand.

Robert Hollick, 43, was allegedly stabbed three times in his neck and back following the fight in Pattaya and was later pronounced dead at a hospital, Thai website The Nation reported.

A taxi driver told police a quarrel took place between Mr Hollick and Swedish man Andreas Ringvall, 40, after Ringval's girlfriend played with Hollick's pet dog inside a bar, the website reported.

The driver said Ringvall sent his girlfriend back to his room, then returned to the bar and attacked Hollick with a knife.

Ringvall and his Thai girlfriend, Dao Pholutsa, 26, were captured by local people and were handed over to police.

Ringvall has since been charged with the murder.

Mr Hollick owned Top Dog personnel, a company which provided earthmoving workers to Western Australian mines, its website said.

He was semi-retired and had a mother living in New Zealand.

His Old Friends profile said he was not married and did not have children.

He attended Upper Hutt College.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it was aware a New Zealand man had been killed in Thailand overnight.

The New Zealand Embassy in Bangkok was liaising with Thai authorities to obtain further information, she said.

=====================================================================

How come almost 12 hours later and still not reported on PattayaOne or PDN? Or do they only report on 'news' that they attended and have photos of? Shouldnt this be top of the Pattaya news sites? So much for 'breaking' local news...

Anyone else have any information about this? I heard from a Police volunteer it happened in Soi DIana near LK Metro or is this false?
