Whilst the BIB often only ask to see your IDP, the correct legal requirement is BOTH your home country licence PLUS your IDP together.

Also be aware that many farang licences (e.g. UK and EU licences) don't automatically include 125cc entitlement, for which you have to complete additional courses or tests to get. Most only cover 50cc automatically. But I've never seen a BIB check that, nor does it matter much when you are unlikely to have 3rd party insurance in any event.

As this topic is pinned, let's update it to the latest info, Thailand has ratified the 1968 convention on 1 May 2021, what means the 3-year IDP is now accepted in Thailand. (so both the 1-year and 3-year IDP is accepted currently)
