Yes it is probably because this season there is very little Premiership footie on the TV here in Africa..but I am REALLY enjoying the Women's WC currently being played..

 

Years ago put them against a bunch of 12 year old school kids and they would lose...but nowadays what level do you think the international teams play at??

I have to agree that their skill levels are improving all the time and their tactical awareness is good as well but the fact that they are women means they will never have the power in their tackling or shooting you would find in a mans game. Also some of the goalkeeping is absolutely shocking at times, the English goalkeepers display in our game against the USA as an example. For those reasons i would still only place them the same as amateur level in England in comparison to men.

Totally agree about the standard of goalkeeping..

 

As for tackling; I thought the tackling in the Norway v China game was hard but fair...

 

But I have just finished watching the Aussie v Brazil game.....Two fantastic goals..Aussies 2nd and Brazil's 3rd!!What ruined it for me was the English geezer commentating...He didn't seem to understand what obstruction was and when the subsequent indirect free kick hit the bar didn't seem to know that it wouldn't have been a goal anyway!!

 

Those Sheilas can cry on my shoulder any day!!
