Hi Lads

This might seem like a crazy idea to some maybe even unthinkable but if one wished to delete his account here at PA how would he go about this?? cant seem to find any links to do this or even any info on changing your username.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks

Deleting your account will probably not happen i'm afraid as you have made over 350 posts and it would leave very strange gaps in the threads you have posted in.

Changing your board name is possible, just send a private message to one of the Mods and they can do that for you.

The decision by Admin to disable 'Manage Attachments' has rattled a few BMs (probably not this one?).

We're not allowed to discuss that under Rule 17, so obviously I'm not....just saying. :hello09:

It's been discussed a lot around on the net. Who does texts and pictures belongs to after been posted on a community (ie facebook)? Just writing a rule saying everything posted on the board belongs to the board seems not to be enough.

I've notice from the begining that there was an option to delete some attached documents in my profile, and that's the main reason why I've felt confident posting many pics. I always knew I could delete some of them in case of problem. When I discovered that this option had discreetly diseapered, I felt a bit betrayed. Thanks god I never posted my face.

However, I still feel confident that mods and admin would delete some of my content if it was asked in MP for specific reason. But the desappearance of the "delete" button left me a bit confuse...

We're living in a world where things can move quickly, and what is permitted today can become prohibited the day after. As I have no problem with my actual content on PA by now, it could be an other matter if our french government would make a law saying prostitution and sex tourims are prohibited. They are discussing about it with our new President. Then I would be worried about my PA profil and content... what would happen if I cannot delete my account (removed or banned member with all the content aparent is not an option).

Well, things change, Pattaya is changing, and so is the board...

We are happy to remove photos at peoples request, that function was abused like most things. So, we took it away. Its more work for us, but we feel that removing that function, makes our life easier (people dont threaten us with it) and it means that all those threads arent damaged.

There was one member adding photos to get rep points and then removing them again, leaving crap threads.

People remove photos and dont tell us, leaving messy threads.

People threaten to delete years worth of photos, if they dont get there way

People remove photos simply to be malicious and vandalise threads

We don't regret removing the function and it never should have been there.

Rule 17 - I thought we weren't allowed to discuss it? That was a long long time ago and anyway there are stacks of old threads with no pics in any more..

The same will happen if/when BMs choose to use hosting sites like Photobucket to stay in control of their pics.

We don't regret removing the function and it never should have been there.

It still strikes me as odd that PA is the only forum I can find which has resorted to disabling it eg.Secrets (which gets slagged off for just about everything else) Thaivisa and Pattaya Live.

In the case you're mainly referring to, I think you used a sledgehammer to crack a Thainut. :hello09:

I appreciate being a moderator is a time consuming job, and thank them for their effort. It is a relief to know that in an emergency, images or posts can be removed at request.

I was caught out one day when i found some of my pix had my name attached in its metadata. Could have been extremely damaging to me. The moderators were gracious enough to give me an opportunity to remove them.

I can see several potential future problems. In some countries, sodomy is illegal. In some countries, you may even get shot for it. What are the chances of a problem arising from a self confessed post about an experience with a 3-holer?

You're not completly right. The BM will not be in total control of their pics. Sometimes Photobucket (or others) just delete the total account because there was a porn pic on it or anything else. That would remove all the pics from the photobucket account and on the board in all the BM's posts, even if the poster doesn't want his pics deleted.

Then, all his pics in all threads would be replaced with :

pbk.jpg

Knowing we all have sometimes dirty pics to post, our photobucket accounts could be frequently removed. That would cause major mess in PA threads.

On all e-comunities, members wants to keep more and more control on their personal datas and its a very sensible thing hard to solve. Facebook got a few problems with this.

I already knew most reasons given by Brian post above and can understand them. I haven't got any good solution to bring here. Just giving my thought.

I've seen those 'images' so yes you're right, Photobucket might be bad for PA............... but not necessarily for me. :Think1:

I presume there are other hosting sites, but otherwise it's just more nails in the pic posting coffin for me.

Another option is to use your own domain hosting account or even host them via your own computer.

But i think it is important for people to think about what they are posting on the public forums as they get crawled and indexed by google and there will always be a public record of them once they have been crawled.

You could host them here

They will never get deleted banned like photobucket, and you should be able to delete them from there easier.

As Nak said, we have to be realistic and accept that whatever we post is out there on the internet forever in some form.

I just deleted some pics, but the number of downloads is ridiculous. Those pics could easily reappear on another board or anywhere.

One reason I change my mind about girls' pics is that, like the vast majority of such posters, I obviously do not have specific permission to put them on the internet.

Some of us did (and perhaps still do) think that PA doesn't count as the internet, because it's some sort of private club - bollox of course.

Some of us hide behind the wording of the Rules :-

Permission will be considered to have been obtained if the person has allowed their picture to be taken, unless it has been specifically requested that their picture not be posted.

We choose to ignore the latter part of that.i.e. of course the girl said "no internet na?" but only we know that and after all, she should have expected it.

Sometimes some of us just want to salve our consciences by cleaning out the kitchen, which is not at all the same as asking a Mod to remove them.

To explain my own apparent paranoia, one of my concerns is that one day the Thai authorities will gain access to the PA database and that there will be material there which might incriminate me in some way.

However unlikely that might be, it didn't help that one Mod even stupidly posted that if the BiB came knocking then you'd have no choice but to help them with their enquiries. A ridiculous post I know, but that's why it wouldn't help me to use PA to host the images I post.

The only answer for me appears to be to follow your own example and not to post girls' pics. :Think1:

I don't know what you know. Perhaps together we know too much.

The Mods have a difficult job for no reward and some do it very well.

I;ve been very happy with this forum too and hopefully it isn't the end of the day just yet,

Is it possable to have my trip report moved to the advanced members section or my photo's deleted from it as i also thought i could delete or photo shop at a later date but this function is no longer available. I dont like the thought of my face being available all over facebook so can i pleased have them removed or moved to the private forum please?
