Pattaya’s Gun Culture

Pattaya One

Recommended Posts

As I recently strolled down Beach Road minding my own business (because sometimes I can do that you know),  a Thai man walked up behind me and said:  “Meester, you want to shoot”?

Assuming I must have been walking funny, or he was propositioning me, I stopped for a second in confusion, at which point he thrust a large photograph of an arsenal in my face.

Immediately understanding the true nature of the business he desired to transact, I declined, but not before I had had a good look at the goods, which did seem like an impressive array of weaponry.

I also noticed the name of the business “Thai Tappaya CULTURE park”. Certainly the business is in the right place given the gun culture in Pattaya, but I don’t think that was intentional.

Pattaya's gun culture recently came to national attention when a senior government minister ordered the city to get it under control; which would be a tough task indeed.

I recall a spate of Pattaya suicides a few years ago (and one in the City more recently, in spite of new security measures), when depressed people went to gun ranges to tragically but efficiently kill themselves.

Some self-harmers have gone even further into Thailand’s gun culture, and employed the police’s own weaponry to kill themselves.

For instance, a few years ago, a French guy stopped a police officer in Chiang Mai to admire his gun, before suddenly pulling it out of the holster and running off down the street with it, chased by the  policeman.

When the Frenchman had got enough distance on his pursuer, he cocked the weapon, fired, and killed himself in the street.

Fortunately we haven’t yet had that happen in Pattaya.

I've seen the same dude. Looked at his weaponry and told him I have more guns than that and bigger ones too. I'm selling them now though. Can't bring them with me when in make final move. What doesn't get sold goes to my nephew. I have about 7 or 8 that are not for sale and will keep for him.

Yep it a tourist trapy thing.

Lots of countries make gun's either very expensive, or very restrictive so the average servant

can not own a gun. Let alone fire one. I was ROFLMAO at the selection and prices for ammo.

Every idiot and wannabe gangster in Pattaya over the age of about 14 seems to have a gun now. Went on my motorbike past a guy kneeling on the ground at the opened back door of his car only yesterday and saw what was quite clearly a hand gun on the floor of the vehicle.

Just the way things are now World Wide. It is after all Cool to own one display it and makes you Fecking hard as Nails doesn't it ?

Remember a few Months back that Tourist at the Range suddenly turned the Gun on himself

If it was down to me I would Ban them having seen the damage done to the innocent and guilty but that's just my view

Head up North and you can even for a price shoot at livestock which has to be a great laugh killing some Cow tethered to a pole.

The only thing I want to be shooting is my Man Jizz over or in a Thai Honey

Scary part of Thailand. Guns to the general public should be banned.

I think it is general cardinal rule on all the world. You can see USA for example :SoWhat1: . Every weapon can start only big problems later.

Thailand has very strict laws about guns but it is not too hard to get an illegal one.
