Pattaya Cops Nab “Columbian Burglary Gang� with Items Worth Million THB

Thailand Transnational Crime Coordination Center arrested two Columbians and two Mexicans, who are a part of a burglary gang operating in Chonburi and Samutprakan provinces, stealing valuables from luxury houses.

PATTAYA – May 19, 2012 [PDN]; Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong, Pattaya police station, Chonburi and Pol. Lt. Col. Kierttisak Sathongoy in coordination with Bangkaew police and Nimitmai police were asked to assist in the arrest of members of the Colombian burglary gang who were hiding in Pattaya.

The police team found Mrs. Catalina Kolin Cornes age 32, standing in front of Fedex Co., Ltd. North Pattaya and upon inspection they discovered a Canon camera, model S95 in her handbag and many valuable items packed in small boxes ready for shipping. The police kept the items for evidence and detained Mrs. Cornes.

Later, the police inspected her room # 306 in Soi 13 at Vilai hotel Theprasit road,Moo 12 Banglamung, Chonburi province.

In the room they found Mr. Wilmer Ferrel Cano Sanchez age 38, Mr. William Fernando Robayo Rico age 38, Columbian nationals and Mr. Alejandro Mejai Valdes age 33, Mexican national.

The police also found many stolen items such as: A silver bracelet with a dragon head, a Louis Vuitton silver bracelet, a Canon camera model S95, a red Dell note book computer, a silver ring with a jewel, a Tag Hauer wrist watch, a DKNY wrist watch, a gold bracelet, a diamond ring, a ring with dragon head, a silver ring, a silver belt, two Palm organisers, a Sony sound recorder and a Canon camera model S100

The approximate value of all items is more than one million THB, not including items that already had been shipped to Colombia that valued around 7 million THB.

The police detained all four suspects and seized all the stolen items. The thieves are charged with theft and will be prosecuted according to the law.

After the arrest, Pol. Lt. Col. Chitdecha Songhong, said that the police team of Bangkaew police station and Samutprakarn police had coordinated in catching this gang who specialised in burglarising luxury residences.

The gangs modus operandi to steal many valuables from millionaires houses and send to them to South America via Fedex Co., Ltd. in North Pattaya.
