Skype calls from your mobile

Not all hotels have Wifi so it sounds like 3G is a must if I'm using Skype.

But I don't think I want to use that on my O2 SIM (will probably cost a small fortune), so will I have to unlock my HTC and get a Thai SIM ?

I just knew it wouldn't be plain sailing.

Unless you plan on making a lot of emergency skype business calls you will probably find Wifi close by everywhere. I havent stayed in a hotel in Pattaya without it in a long time (and I never pay over 1000 bt a night if I can help it). And of course restuarants and cafes have it.

I have a Skype # from my home country and it rings on the HTC, if I am out of a wifi range they can leave a voicemail( inexpensive option). When I am back in range I get the message.

I think you can relax unless you are one of those guys who likes to be on the phone all the time.

The other thing to remember is Skype or whatever program you like to use is perfect for overseas calls but in Thailand calling Thai - Thai is dirt cheap. I spend 350B on the 1Gb 3G and probably another 50B on calls.
