Keeping Mum

This small bar in Soi Diamond, on the site of what used to be Paris a Go-Go, has chosen an unusual name for itself.

Assuming it hasn’t lost an “M” at the sign-writers, and was supposed to be called after the more distinguished Mumm, the famous French champagne, we wonder why the owners chose the name "Mum".

It might make booze-addled punters believe only staff old enough to be their mothers work there, or anyway create an uncomfortable word association between a bar in Pattaya and their mothers, neither of which sounds like a great idea for the name of a bar just off Walking Street.
