Thai Government Announces: Plate of Rice & Curry Plate Maximun Price 35 THB

The rising cost of living continued to make headlines. The central committee on the prices (CCP) of goods & services decided to impose price controls on cooked meals. Price control measures will first apply to popular daily dishes, including those available on the streets. For example, rice topped with an omelette should cost no more than 15 to 20 THB; a plate of khao kaeng (rice served with curry) should sell at no more than 25 to 30 THB; a plate of rice with two side dishes 25 to 35 THB; and a bowl of noodles with pork, chicken or fish balls 25 to 35 THB. The government will shoulder more than 4 billion THB of the cost.

It's great to see that they are looking after some of their own! I'm sure this wont help the stall holders, but good to see that Thailand has its eye on raising prices!

This is the best way to ruin Thai Economy. First you dictate minimum wages and then you dictate the business owners maximum prices for their goods and service. If you make no profit anymore - just close. The government will open own red food stalls soon ...
