[Moderator EDIT] It would appear that there is no Joiner fee at the Marriot after all (please read the whole thread) however Pattaya Addicts would advise you to check before booking at any hotel to which you intend to 'entertain' guests :ThumbUp6: which is why I have decided not to remove this thread

After weeks of deciding which hotel to choose for my trip I thought illd go with Marriott cause it's hot at the moment and the pool looks nice ..anyway I thought I would send an eMail about joiner fee just so I have it on record ..I nearly choked on my corn flakes when I read the email at breakfast today ,they said if you book single occupancy they will charge 1500b per person per night...if I book double occupancy the girl I check in with at the start is ok to stay but only her ..gee thanks..but any other girl other than that will be charged a joiner fee...so there basically saying you can bring ya girlfriend but no joiners ...if you do they'll bend you over and ram a joiner fee 1500b worth up ya arse ..I no that they havnt charged on joiner fee because everyone on this forum who have stayed there before hasn't had to pay it so not sure what there on about ...maybe the LB on resception today didn't get to suck any cock last night and is is taken it out on me ..anyway plenty of other options duditd2 is cheaper and they said I can have as many back as I want ..

I have heard a few say that the marriot charged 1000bht joiners fee, but 1500bht is way too steep! I think that they are trying to stop mongers use it as that's not the the image they are after!

Their loss is another hotels gain! I have heard that the dunsit is a great hotel!

Good luck with your trip mate!

Yeah must be new policy just come out this week well it's good to no though for anyone looking at booking the Marriott ...a 1500 b joiner pretty much sais it all ..'we are no longer a monger freindly hotel". ...

Posted

Another hotel thinking that there will a big family market and no doubt trying to keep the Monger out. Not going to happen but it's not my business so will avoid the Marriott.

Good that you found out beforehand and not on your first night (or second night I guess) when you skipped happily past reception with your conquest for the night.

Exactly nice to visit....I was just going to book it as well without asking because it seemed like a givn that the marriot was a monger freindly place...I'm thinking dustit d2 or mercure for the pool ...only thing that I don't like the look of is the pool area looks small but could be the photos not sure ...rooms look the best I've seen in the photos though and good location ...

Hi everyone, first post here. I was just thinking of booking the Marriott because looking through the forum it's been known to be generally guest friendly and I'm looking for somewhere a bit resort like with 24 hour room service (Las Vegas has ruined me). I'm coming from England and it's surprisingly cheap at the moment to book through Virgin Holidays. I'm looking at £1180 for 14 nights inc flights and transfers. or even £1630 for the max 27 nights with flights with Emirates (via Dubai). The flights are £628 on the Emirates site, making the room only rate £37 a night. Isn't that a really good rate? Is it normal to get these types of deals in the low season months of September and October? Is this deal a no-brainer (even given the possible big joiner fee) or am I underestimating the quality of some other better value options? can any other place with a nice pool beat that price?

These guys are nuts in a way imho because it's the mongers who spend the most money by far. If mongers didn't spend time with girls their spending would drop in half guaranteed.

I think there in a transition phase with charging a joiner fee ...I replyd to there email saying what a joke that is and they must of made an honest mistake ...they then said because of security issues girls must leave I.D ...then I said I understand about the I.D but you told me that there's a 1500 joiner fee so now your saying if I just leave an I.D there's no joiner without actually saying there's no joiner?..there was a two word reply..that's right....so they said in the first email 1500 ..then said there wasn't without actually saying it in writing....so I'm not going to bother sounds like to much of a drama IMO ...Ive emailed mercure and there sweet for 65 bucks and no joiner and not far from everything so that's my choice see how we go ...

Posted

WONALD can you please share the e mail address with me

I would love to go there but I also want no drama but I would also like to e mail i am looking into holiday inn but location scares me ,and no fridge or mini bar so marrott looks like the place i would like??? but not with a fee not the money but princple .WTF .just not right.

Thanks in advance

Warm regards

Yeah no dramas Cappy ...that was the other drama getting a fucking email addy ...maybe just rocking up and assuming there's no joiner fee like everyone else is the go...from what I hear you can book a suite there and just go through the back gate on beach rd to avoid the front desk ....but then ya paying top dollar anyway ...send them an email anyway I just think it sounds like a hassle there now by the sound of there email [email protected] it works out for ya

Wonad thanks for the e mail I just booked the hard rock ,at a I think fair deal 4100 baht @ NIGHT..Sea view room

free laundry 4 pieces a day free internet and fee movies and buffet breakfast for two .seems like a OK deal still looking

Do we have any firm confirmation that they have charged anyone a joinder fee?

I definitely was NOT charged one last November (or in 2009), and it seems like they retracted the statement in a subsequent email.

There were rumors that the owner was going to de-brand the hotel (so it would no longer be a Marriott), but that seems to have been a false alarm (at least for now).

If/when I stay there, it is on Marriott points, so the de-branding issue would be a dealbreaker for me.

i am sending them a e mail WTF .IT IS WHAT IT IS ????

Will post all deatails .

The lesson here is to stay out of Marriott. It is obvious they don't want mongers staying there. BTW, that is their right.

I have stayed several times at the Marriott, latest in April this year and have NEVER heard of any joiner fees.

Of course, this is an upscale hotel so one has to be discreet about it. Just book a room for 2 persons and you will not have any problems.

Another thing is that you can request a room in the garden wings, and by using the entry from Beach Road you will not even have to enter via the reception.

Actually, UNTIL we have confirmation from someone that they were actually charged a joinder fee, I do not think that is the lesson at all.

NO offense to the OP or anyone else, but -- to me -- this thread is extremely misleading until there is actual confirmation. Basically, based on an email that was later retracted by the hotel, there is now a perception among many BMs that they DEFINITELY charge a 1500 baht joinder fee.

That may, indeed, be their new policy, but we have at least one BM (nosaint) who was there within the last 30-45 days, and he wasn't charged, so I will reserve changing my opinion of this hotel until we have firm confirmation.

I could'nt agree more. It would surprise me if they have changed their policy on joinerfees. I am due to go back in June and will report more then.

However, if someone can CONFIRM that the Marriott is actually charging joinerfees, please let us know.

Until then, lets treat good old Marriott as GF :)

The best way to find out their policy is to send an e mail and ask. BTW, this is the best policy before staying any place you are not sure of. I am always amazed at mongers who complain about joiner fees but never bothered to inquire about the hotel's policy on this issue before booking.

Exactly what I did ...send them a email...and they wrote back 1500 ...... good luck to you if you send them an email and they say otherwise...I didn't give them my business because it was weird how they got back to me with one word reply ...5 star hotel writing back with one word replys and saying in one email they charge 1500 then saying they mite not without actually saying they don't...I'm sure if you just rocked up you would be fine but I'm a straight up guy who likes straight answers beating round the bush doesn't cut it for me especially when paying top dollar ...

I am investigating this issue
