To hot to play golf in May?

Yes. Bloody hot. Heck, it's bloody hot NOW and has been for weeks. Whatever.

You play, if you choose to walk don't push hard. DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Don't drink beer on the course.

Bring a towel and wet it and wipe yourself down to cool off once in a while. DRINK LOTS OF WATER.

Cart is better. Use an umbrella to keep the sun off you when walking waiting around greens.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER.

Bring a change of clothes and shower after.

Golf is great here but it takes some common sense. Too many pissheads get here and start drinking beer on the course. Heatstroke is a serious medical problem and usually occurs due to either drinking alcohol, or not drinking enough water. If you wait until you are thirsty to drink water it is too late. Buy at least (minimum) a bottle of water at every drink stop. You probably need at least 5 bottles of water on the course. I've watched people get heatstroke where I live in Arizona. It isn't funny.

Have fun. I'm off in an hour to play.

What you really need is a sexy caddy with an umbrella and lots of towels to wipe you down :)

Yep....better to stay in air conditioned room or bar with a beautiful spinner or 2.

Golf in Thailand is hot all year round. However, we are about to pass, if not already passed, the hottest time of the year. The rainy season is coming, and, to me, that's even worse than playing golf under the hot sun!

Maybe in the mornings, it's hitting 40 C in the afternoons now. Fuck that. I stay inside and drink beer.

have been playing golf this week at mae moh ( massive power plant and mining area about an hour south of chiang mai) and its been hot, since there has been a few rain showers at night im finding that in the mornings there is a little bit of breeze.

personally im a morning person and usually try to be on the tee first thing because in the afternoons the heat starts to take its toll.

  • 2 months later...

There's usually a refreshment stand at every other hole... and i think I almost get something each time. "Gatalade, please..."

Walking is easy. You're not carrying, pushing, or pulling your bag.

First time playing in bkk, i got a cart and they gave me a male caddie.
