Not sure why. I find having a prearranged taxi with the driver awaiting me with my name on a sign fairly reassuring, especially after the 26+ hours it takes me to get to Swampy. No waiting, straight to the car with him helping with the luggage.

I can also get him to make a stop for beverages and to add baht to my SIM card at a 7-11 or Family Mart along the way, adjust the A/C to my preference, even pop in a CD if I want!

Is it just the expense...or?

Peace,

TM

I normally use the Bell Bus but next time I'm arriving too late for this service.

Paying 120 odd baht for the bus sounds a lot better than 1100 baht for a taxi (incl tipp). But then have to add on the baht bus taxi to your accomm.

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

There is a Roon Ruang coach that leaves from the ground floor, same place as the bell meeting spot. It leaves on the "odd" hour, whereas Bell leaves on the "even" Their last bus goes at 9pm so it is a good alternative to the Bell service. 124 baht, and stops on sukhumvit road at pattaya north, central and south roads. Easy to get a baht bus or motorbike taxi from there.

Good info, thanks. How much does the baht bus want for becoming a 'taxi' to accommodation say, somewhere on Soi Buckhao?

Had one quote me 250 baht a while ago, ended up taking a motorbike taxi for 120 (for two people) instead.

While that's good info to others whom're not aware the OP's title is specific to late night arrivals.

Granted 9 pm is night time, but being a fellow American I'm very aware that our usual 11pm-12am arrival times leave severely restricted options concerning ground transportation to Pattaya from Bangkok.

To my knowledge buses just aren't an option so late, with the possible exception of the Devils Den van.

Although that's an something I hope to pursue one day, I'd imagine it's not something the 'budget minded', such as those who would normally take a bus in the first place, would consider.

Peace,

TM

You could look around baggage reclaim, and ask others if they want to share a taxi, single guys aged 40 or older would be a good bet

Cheers, that was my ball park for the baht bus. Motor bike taxi out of the equation cos spending 2 months, fucking huge suitcase!

Probably haggle my way down to 200 anyway. Then more money for the girls!

Easier just to book a Mt T Taxi to pick you up from swampy, as after 10:30 I think you are fucked with regards to getting a bus if memory serves, for the sake of Bt500 i'd rather get the taxi to take me to my accommodation by myself.

Mr T has never let me down in all of my 10 trips and most BM's swear by him and only Bt1000 to Pattaya from Swampy.

If u take a bell bus they will take you to your accommodation but it just adds time onto your journey as they drop off the nearest people first and personally i just want to get showered and out ASAP.

Mr T--recommended by many, myself included. 1000 or 1100 all in. After a long flight practicing 'false' economy can be exhausting, and it fucks up the next day.
