I use Doctor Cherry, Dentist Beach, Central Festival. Very professional and reasonable rates. Has good reports from other BM's as well!

I recently started a whiskey diet......I've lost three days already!

When I did my root canal at Dentist@Beach back in Oct, Dr Cherry was said to have left.

The dentist and specialist there all speak good English. If you don't need specialised fix, I suggest you look for a short Thai guy who loves to talk. I'm hopeless with names, should be pongsa or something. There's only 1 short Thai guy dentist who loves to talk, once you describe this, they'll know who you are looking for :GoldenSmile1:

It's better to pay now then to pay later. Nothing is free.

Hi, i had great service and work done by this dental company. I had 1 crown, 5 fillings and 1 clean and polish last August.

The dentist who made the mould for the crown was a LB, he was very polite and spoke good english as everyone i dealt with did.

One dentist that has mentioned quite often on this forum is Dr. Aree. I believe she is located in the Pattaya International Hospital.

What did 8 crowns cost you?

With whitening etc was about 55000 baht. Was quoted in Sydney at between $10000 to $14000 AUD so a free holiday plus lots of fun. Much better option than getting work done at home!

At least an 80% savings. Good for you.

Dr Cherry - is still there and see only her - no-one else

Not sure why anyone would say see her and nobody else there as I've been twice for both the Xoom whitening and to have the custom-fitted trays made for for home whitening, and saw two different dentists while there. The first one was male, I believe he was the talkative one described above, and the second was a female.

Although they didn't perform any major-type work they both were very professional and spoke good English, as did the receptionist.

Sounds as if perhaps another BM had more substantial work done and had some issues with a dentist other than Dr Cherry?

Peace,

TM

When I made my bookings the contact person was Dr Cherry, but for my Root Canel, she mentioned she can't perform it as a specialist is required.

I'd done a few fillings and a couple of cleaning there and had been attended by 3 other dentists (2 male 1 lady) besides the specialist. They are all good. The talkative short dentist actually have quite a few repeat customers, at least that's what I saw during my root canal process.

I recommend Dr Aree at the Pattaya International Hospital. She may be a bit more expensive than some of the other dentists, but I have never come across a dentist who is so gentle and so un-rushed. Recently got a very deep filling done, allocated over an hour, normally 1/2 in Oz. I also had two crowns and 2 hours were allocated for each appointment.

Previously got a crown in Dr Sunil clinic in Bangkok and he was attending at least 3 patients at the same time, running from one room to the other and dentists who have seen the crown have not been that impressed!

I've read differing reports about white/ resin fillings. Some say they are not good for impact. (biting) Anyone got any tips?? Hoping to get fixed up this trip.

I had a Swiss dentist that used 'Glass' fillings that freak other dentists out. I think it like fiberglass, told difficult to work with, but only 5% of dentists get the knack. Glass fillings apparently hide decay on xray. Anyway, 20 years later, never had a problem.

His mentality was amalgam fillings are 'criminal'. All the others use common white filling. that wears and seemingly cavities get in.

I was told by a dentist to use a 'lady' dentist as the males are too rough and ready - or more likely greedy. the key here is hygine. Also what passes for a dentist in home country is different to Thai dentists, ADA reckons they all need a week+ USA style training to fix aspects. Now if you have bad teeth, a chop and crown would be fine. Trouble is my teeth are not so bad.. yet.

So any Swiss Dentists here?

Don't know what distinguishes good and bad dentists. They all pull teeth, drill holes, fell 'em up again, and the shots against pain are probably the same everywhere, too. Dentists are quite educated folks, they all speak English reasonably. One asked me once to translate for a German guy who didn't speak English, wanted the teeth of his TGF fixed, but the bill in his name to get the money from his insurance back. I was surprised the dentist refused. No idea why the TGF had no part in the conversation. Dentists with big glossy fronts to a main road attracting foreigners can be many times more expensive than those with humble offices and a small sign in Thai, so I rather chose one of the latter. Never had to wait for my turn more than 5 minutes. Extracting a tooth, fixing a filling, removing stains was always in the range of 500 - 700 Baht. Funny is that they always instruct you not to smoke or drink for a while. Yeah, right.

Been checking lots of Pattaya Dental Clinics websites and they more or less all are identical with same prices and even the same dentist team!

Maybe it doesn't matter to which one you go after all!?

I have a tooth (molar) with a deep filing in it. A number of years ago the side of the tooth broke down to the gum line. My dentist at that time put in a resin filling and rebuilt the side of the tooth with the resin. No problems since it was done and it has been there for at least 10 years.

I've been using Dr. Aree for the past 15 years. She is gentle, thorough, scrupulously honest and does excellent work. Unfortunately, she has cut back her working hours and it's difficult to get to see her. As long as she's still working, I'll never use another dentist. The combination of cutting back working hours and her popularity means you have to plan in advance. She is more expensive than most dentists but still very reasonable by international standards.

  • 4 weeks later...

We have just got back and had major dental work done .

We both used the dentist in Soi 6 Jomtien. Excellent work and relatively inexpensive.
