  1. Used Agoda successfully many times for nearly a decade. this time I’m having a few issues....... it was a non-refundable booking, payment on arrival..... but now I find out it’s a condo not a hotel, it doesn’t have 24 hour reception (which I wanted, which was in the description) he is telling me the price is now us$300 not 120 I booked i am fearing for my safety when I arrive late at night and they insist on the larger amount....... he is insisting that I use Whats App rather than communicating through Agoda i have started a complaint with Agoda but so far they’ve been dismissive. as the booking was made in the UK what sort of recourse do I have???
  2. Quick question about joiner fees... Hi everyone. This might seem weird to ask but I was thinking about it earlier. What specifically is a joiner fee theoretically supposed to be for? By that I mean obviously I know why you are asked to pay a joiner fee at certain hotels (although I’ve never stayed at any hotel that asked for one). I’ve never really given it much thought beyond ‘joiner fee = pay hotel/front desk to allow you to bring rampant totty into your room or in some cases an extra bit of crumpet on top of your guest (figuratively speaking). But...what I’m asking is what, on paper, would a hotel give as a legitimate reason for the fee? Would a hotelier tell me, for example, that it’s to cover the additional costs of having an extra person stay in the room? I just thought about it earlier and It occurred to me that I don’t really know the reasoning behind their existence and I’m sure it’s something really obvious...sometimes I like to just lie down and think....
  3. Currently 10 days into a 16 night stay. A great hotel, everything really good, nice staff, friendly chambermaids, clean decent sized room, rooftop pool and pretty good breakfast. I know there's been complaint's about the building work next door, but that hasn't been a problem for me, looks like most of the heavy duty work has been completed. My only complaint would be the hotels internal sound proofing, have been woken on several occasions by slamming doors and my neighbor above stomping around - although this may be more of a complaint about inconsiderate guests rather than the hotel itself. Guest friendly, 2nd joiner 500 Baht. Looking forward to returning in a few weeks. Note, booked a deluxe double room through Agoda and asked for a smoking room. Non smoking hotel, so was upgraded to a deluxe double balcony - this wasn't intentional, Agoda lists all rooms as having a balcony, or they did when I booked. Booked in advance and paid 1500 Baht per night.
  4. im booked to go back soon, i stupidly booked the irish rovers for my first night for around 800 baht , now the price is ok but on hindsight i think it may be too noisy there. last year i stayed at eastinny inn on soi 7, i loved the room , it was immaculate for 700 a night but noise was terrible untill 4-5am every night. now im looking somewhere with a nice clean room, a kettle in room with tea & coffee. a clean swimming pool. friendly staff. ive stayed at most places ...i dont mind paying from 700 - 1500 a night . any advice ?
  5. Guys This thread is specifically aimed at those of you who use Agoda already although if it encourages others to use them that is great. If you are NOT a fan of Agoda that is fine, we accept they are not for everyone. Most of you are aware that if you book a hotel, anywhere in the world, using our Agoda links the forum is paid a commission (approx 3% of net booking). In the past these commissions paid a large portion of our hosting fees. However in recent months several things have changed - notably. 1. Agoda have removed the cookie. This means that we no longer receive commission for people who clicked, then return later to book. In this case the commission goes 100% to Agoda themselves. 2. Agoda have removed the commission paid on repeat visitors. Previously if you booked via an Addicts link we would retain the customer. This is no longer the case. In short, if you use Agoda and are happy for PA to receive the commission, we need you to always click a link AGAIN to make the booking. Many many thanks to those members who support us and use them! PA Agoda Link PA Booking.com link Please BOOKMARK the links for future use! Please also note that this applies to hotel bookings anywhere in the world - not just Pattaya or Thailand.
