Over 1 million Thais are infected with HIV/AIDs BANGKOK, 18 March 2012 (NNT) - The Public Health Ministry reports that the number of HIV/AIDs patients in Thailand is on the rise with over 1 million patients currently. At the annual HIV/AIDs conference held in Chiang Mai, Public Health Minister Wittaya Buranasiri disclosed that HIV/AIDs is an incurable chronic disease of which more than 1 million patients have been reported to be infected. According to Mr. Wittaya , 25 percent of the total diagnosed patients are in the working group aged between 30-34. While unprotected sex is the major risk factor which accounts for as high as 84 percent, premature and unprotected sex among secondary school and vocational students is becoming more of a problem. The Public Health Minister added that this year the National Health Security Office (NHSO) has set nearly 3 billion baht as a budget for HIV/AIDs care and treatment while planning to increase the budget to 3.5 billion baht for next year. -- NNT 2012-03-18 Now think about this. If you remove the people >60 and <18, what % you get? And what % it should be on Walking Street? And think more... these are the people that are currently on treatment. How many who are not treated and just infected without knowing it? Condoms, condoms, condoms...
Hi all I know the vast majority of us have either had a condom break or decided to bareback. Well. getting an HIV test in Pattaya for you and your partner can relieve a lot of anxiety and is the responsible thing to do. I found a great place to do this and the quality of the staff and test is great: Adanced Life Laboratory Telephone: 038411932 They are one Soi north of Soi 6 right by beach road If you are going south on Second Rd. take a left at the McDonalds and you will see it next to two large hotels I recommend the COMBO HIV test which checks for antigen and antibodies and is supposed to really cut the "window" down to about a week...SUPPOSED. Now, I do put great faith in this test as well as condoms (I use 100% of the time) but I do not put great faith in the fidelity and/or health consciousness of women (in general) "working" in Pattaya...God Bless Them. Maybe I am wrong, but I think of it this way: even though I think the weatherman is probably right, I still carry a set of raincoats in my motorbike, no matter what. So, if you have a condom breakage or have decided to bareback or just want that periodic test, I highly recommend this professional testing center, which I understand will give you a more reliable test that a "rapid" test at a normal clinic. Peace
I have had a brief exposure while I was in pattaya when the condom broke. The HIV status of the girl has not been confirmed. Soon after the exposure I noticed a bump in my lower lip that I went and got checked out and was told it was a mucocele or a mucous cyst. I have never had A cyst in my life let alone one in my mouth. I have been using antibiotics and kenalog for a week With no results thus far. Could this indicate possible HIV infection? I have also had a mosquito bite that got infected on my leg, which has never happened before either. I did the HIV rapid test at 8 weeks and now wondering if I should do the 3 month one based on these symptoms. Is the rapid test accurate? Should I just move on?
Hi guys, Just wondering what is the full cost to do a full STD/HIV check up, been reading through and mostly got 1200bath for HIV. How bout for the others? Also what is the procedure like? And how many days of waiting? From what i understand HIV is mainly a blood test, right? What about the others? like Herpes, Warts and etc? Cause I've heard from some friends that some procedures for example have to stick something up the penis and that test was done in the UK with that pricing how bout Thai pricing... Or is that just the old school way? And how long after intercourse should test be done for other STD? And can it be done in Bangkok and Pattaya? I know this may sound very vague but there are many post in this forum and I've gone through quite a few pages for this particular part. It may help a bit if some could share links to my post from out of the 22 pages for Health Issues and Fitness... Would really appreciate it guys. Thanks. Regards, BoyMatang
