  1. On Soi Bong Koch 8, The Factory has a regular "Nurse Party," with the girls sporting "naughty nurse" outfits. I dropped by a couple of months ago to check it out. Lots of guys had the same idea, but I found a seat at the bar. The girls approached me one after another until I found one that I liked. Didn't take long.
  2. Mafia Bar, east side of Soi Buakhao, just north of Soi Honey. Cheap beers early in the evening. Music videos mostly from the 80s. A coupe of dancers if you don't like the videos. Central location makes it easy to reach my next stop, regardless of where that may be.
  3. I concur with Khun Prince. Soi Bong Koch 8 is an excellent choice for naughty boys looking to take care of business before the sun goes down. If the OP is out and around from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. he'll find all the gentleman's clubs open for business and fully staffed. Should he find himself a bit peckish later, there are multiple places to grab a bite around the corner from The Factory Bar. I'm partial to the quick serve Italian place called Da Noy Trattoria.
  4. The khao soi is pretty good there, but you should also try the Miang -- which are similar to Vietnamese spring rolls. This restaurant is just steps from the Devonshire on Soi Lengkee. Fire up Google Maps and search for the Admire House, which is a small guesthouse south of Soi Lengkee. You'll see some tables outside the entrance. Order inside in the guesthouse lobby.
  5. My approach is different from Khun Kahuna's, and it's served me well. I prefer to land at BKK around dawn. On my last trip I got off the jet at 6:30 and out of Nam's taxi in Pattaya at 8:30. I cheerfully pay for the extra night of lodging because it's worth it to me to go straight to my room for a quick shower. The shower combined with the morning sunshine usually gives me a second wind, even though (like Khun Kahuna) my trip is at least 25 hours and I don't sleep well on airplanes. I can unpack, lay in supplies and get a bite to eat before the fatigue catches up to me in the early afternoon. Then it's time for a nap until just after sunset. Getting out of bed at, say, 7:00 p.m. is a real challenge. But it's the first step in adjusting my body clock. For me, the single most important thing is to take it easy that first night. I go easy on the drinks, I find somebody I like early and I'm back in bed at midnight. It's tempting to go hard that first night. But the hangover and the lost sleep will have me feeling like shit for days afterward. No bueno! I won't sleep well my first night in town, and by sunrise I'll be awake again. But I find getting out and walking to breakfast makes it easier to adjust to the time difference. For the next few days I'm up early and out the door for breakfast. I nap in the afternoon. Before I know it, I'm over the jet lag.
  6. Spent almost three months in town earlier this year. My take on Tree Town is that it attracts three types of customers: (1) Naughty boys looking to find somebody special; (2) Lads who just want to drink, often with mates; and (3) "Civilian" tourists, both male and female. The sit-down seating areas appeal to the tourists, it seems to me -- just like the big rectangular seating area surrounded by hawker stalls peddling food and drink. When the sit-down tables aren't occupied by tourists, or groups of lads having a night out, I've noticed freelancers sitting there. None of them ever impressed me much. Mostly older and heavier ladies. I wouldn't spend too much time analyzing the sit-down tables. Tree Town still features numerous beer bars with the conventional bar-height seating, pool tables, sport on TV and ladies looking to make your acquaintance. You can also find live music and lots of food carts. It's a big venue with multiple establishments. Just wander around until you find somewhere (or someone) that strikes your fancy.
  7. Just back after nearly three months in town. Spent lots of time on Soi 6 and in the GCs on Soi Bongkoch 8, on Soi Boomerang and in Phra Tam Nak. There are pros and cons to the competing venues. No question Soi 6 has the largest selection of girls, and some are truly stunning. Window shopping is silly simple. Going "upstairs" requires a room charge of roughly 500 baht, plus the girl's fee. The going rate seemed to be 2,000, but I did pay one hottie 2,500. But. But. But. The current Soi 6 business model tilts heavily toward selling drinks. The girls expect you to spend freely on alcohol. Fine by me, but you guys who are, um, er more focused might find the pressure to pay for drinks off-putting. And some of the girls won't go upstairs. They just want to hustle drinks. The selection of girls in the GCs is nowhere near as large. But as noted elsewhere in this thread, the quality might surprise you. I found half a dozen girls on SBK8 and a couple on Soi Boomerang that were young and fit, with pretty faces and little to no ink. Granted, shopping around requires some effort. You have to go inside most GCs to see the girls, and you have to get used to being decisive. But if you're nice about it, you can pick a favorite and there's no offense taken. There is also a difference in the "pre-game" aspect. On Soi 6 you'll sit in an open bar with the music blasting and the nightly river of chaos flowing by just a few feet away. If that's your jam, fine. But it's not conducive to the "warm up" I prefer. In the GCs, you're indoors sitting in comfort and in my experience almost all the girls make an effort to get "up close and personal," including kissing, letting her hands wander to varying degrees. Moreover, at the GCs it's common for some or all of the clothes to come off right from the jump. Not much nudity in the open front bars on Soi 6 with the parade passing by in the street. When it's time to get down to business at the typical GC for roughly 500 baht you can (1) pull the curtain - or not; (2) retire to the VIP room; or head upstairs. Most days I was happy with a BBBJ with the curtain drawn, or in the side room. Technique ranged from solid to superb. Some girls were happy with 500, while some asked for 1,000. Occasionally I went upstairs at a GC. Most of the rooms were comparable to what I was used to on The Six. But one or two were actually nicer. For a longer session with a shower in the upstairs rooms, I paid the girls 2,000 and they were all happy. SOI SIX vs. THE GENTLEMAN'S CLUBS? As the bookmakers say, it's six to five and pick 'em. My long holiday took the pressure off, and in some ways I was on the ex-pat plan. If it was a simple solo night and I wanted to TCB without too much ballyhoo SBK8 was ideal, especially in the late afternoon or early evening. If I was out with mates and we were in the mood to get our drink on while leering at the hottest girls in town with the music pumping, Soi 6 was the spot. Finally, keep in mind that going back and forth between The Six and SBK8 via Bolt car takes only a few minutes and costs <100 baht. As Soi 6 has focused more on partying and less on punting, the GCs have increased. To be sure, some nights in some GCs the selection was dismal and the atmosphere sleepy. But it's a simple matter to vote with your feet. IMHO, the GCs are doing something right. I look forward to going back during my next trip.
  8. Just got back from a trip that was "post" a lot of things. Post-COVID. Post-retirement. Post-cancer treatment. Booked flights and lodging for a 45-day trip. But the Mideast developments scuppered my flight home through Doha. Ended up staying 80 days before going back via Incheon. It didn't take a month to get over my jet lag, but it did take a month to fight off an upper respiratory infection that turned into sinusitis. Fortunately, the cheerful ladies at the Guardian Pharmacy kept me well stocked with third generation cephalosporins and my head cleared. Not much in the way of nightlife during those weeks. If I had been "on the clock" I would have furious. Instead I "took the Pattaya cure." Up early most days, then a 15 minute walk to the Devonshire for tea and toast, followed by a couple hours of laptop time taking care of my responsibilities back in the world. Then some errands, which in typical Old Guy manner were just an excuse to walk to Tukcom or the Villa Market. Maybe a couple nam sodas at a deserted beer bar. Definitely back to the room for a nap. Early supper at the Runway hawker stalls or the Soi Buakhao night market. In bed by 10:00. The second month I settled into my version of ex-pat mode. Still up early most days to get my steps in. Still whiling away the hours with my laptop sitting someplace cool with a soft drink. But every couple of nights I traded Netflix for the usual Naughty Boy venues. Unlike my previous short holiday trips, I didn't feel the need to force anything. There was always tomorrow. If the guy next to me wanted to chat, that was cool too. Third month had me thinking about home. But the good thing about not getting carried away with the nightlife is that you don't get burned out. You're not going through the motions under deadline pressure. You can savor every experience. On my last day in town I stood looking at my packed bags and realized I had a couple hours before one of Nam's lady drivers arrived. Fifteen minutes later I was canoodling on the couch with a cutie at the Factory GC. When I got in the car I was drained. (If you catch my drift.) But it was a good tired. I think that if you can find the time, booking a LLT holiday allows you to enjoy everything Pattaya has to offer, not just the alcohol-fueled nightlife.
  9. First time Songkraner here. Here’s what I saw on 4/13 starting about 8:00 p.m. Walked east on Soi Honey from Second Rd. to Soi Buakhao. Plenty of people with squirt guns, but it was possible to stay outside their engagement envelope most of the time. Most seemed to target others who were “armed” and less likely to drench a single guy without a gun of his own. Saw one of the many circulating pickup trucks full of water barrels and hardcore water wizards. Decided these are like an AC-130 gunship when it comes to raining down wetness from above. They left me alone, preferring to fight curbside gangs with lots of water, high tech sprayers of their own and big ladles. I got plenty wet, but nothing above the neck. Ducked into the Mafia Bar to get out of the line of fire. Enjoyed a couple of cheap Changs and the 80s music videos. Not many customers, and the girls looked particularly bored. To be sure, it was still early. Digression: Whoever hires their talent has a high tolerance for ink, which I don’t care for. On the other hand, they recruit leggy girls with narrow hips and tight asses. And there is a service girl who’s just a sweetheart. Bunky likes. The beer was starting to soak in, so I ducked into the Las Vegas go go club on Soi LK Metro knowing the high powered a/c would help me dry out. Stepping through the door the mamasan sized up my sogginess and directed me to a seat wrapped in plastic. After just one beer I made my last stop at Kink. The lineup was far below average, but fortune shined upon me when Ms. 447 sat down without me asking. No tats. Great skin. Cute face with chin-length haircut. Not a hardbody, but not a heifer either. Bought her two or three drinks. She was happy to sit with me sans costume, even though I was still a bit damp. Walked home via Soi Diana. Almost no water sports around the Areca Lodge. Food carts mostly MIA. But managed to buy a couple of those steamed buns with sweet/salty meat filling. Alloy mak!
  10. The "peperoni" pie is on offer at Pizza Italy, which is located in a cul de sac that connects to Soi Boomerang, not far from Heaven Above. (Map from Google) I'm a big fan of this place, which is run by a guy who takes pride in making all kinds of meats from scratch. He sells platters of sliced meats that to nibble on while you're tipping a few back, plus sandwiches and pasta. But I think his pizzas are the way to go. The crust is thin, but moist and chewy not dry and crackly. Cheese is solid. Many toppings on offer, including his homemade meats. (Menu) he charges 300-350 for most pies, which are generously sized. This is my favorite. I'm going by memory, but I think it's the No. 516.
  11. Helpful discussion, with several points of view debated in a civil way. Good show! 👋 I've done multiple holidays in Pattaya, but this is my first Songkran. Any advice on the best way for a newbie to get the experience? I'm a retired falang Staying at View Talay 6. Not interested in fighting the water wars. But don't mind get wetting and enjoying the spectacle. Was planning on throwing on some old clothes and heading out this evening with nothing in my pockets but a wad of baht. Where should I go to have a few beers and admire the local girls wearing "Daisy Dukes; bikinis on top?"
  12. Here is the guidance on the impact that Songkran will have on Nam's Taxi Service, from her web site.
  13. "Kickball contest." You funny man! 🤣 It is settled beyond peradventure of doubt that the options on Soi Honey are a good choice for lads who prefer to stay close to the central part of town. As Khun Joe described, plenty of places to eat and drink and meet nice ladies all within stumbling distance of Treetown, Soi Myth Night, Soi Made in Thailand, Soi Buakhao and Soi Chaiyapoon. But . . . If he's willing to branch out, might I suggest the gentleman's clubs on Soi Bong Koch 8? From Soi LK Metro it's only a short ride on a taxi bike. Better yet, use the Bolt app and travel in four-wheeled, air-conditioned style. (Hint: Enter the OO7 club as a destination and you'll be dropped off in the center of the GC district.) Khun Joe will find a good selection of girls at those GCs, especially in the late afternoon and early evening. (Things start to slow down about 9:00 p.m.) The going rate for a blowjob is 500-1,000, plus a small "facility charge" paid to the bar for use of a curtained booth, side room or upstairs room with shower. Prices for drinks (lady & gentleman) are reasonable. Atmosphere is chill. Ladies happy to "take care," but if you want to tune up or cool down that's fine too. Bunky P.S. Who's loving the food photos.
  14. Just wanted to close the loop on my quest for an extension of the deadline for me to leave the Kingdom. This morning I reported to the Chonburi immigration office in Jomtien as instructed. When I arrived at 8:15 Line #1 for document inspection reached to the door, but not beyond. About 20 minutes later I had my number and a seat in the big room. It took about 45 minutes before I got the call to Window #1. Paid the 1,990 baht fee, handed over the TM.7 (plus exhibits) and surrendered my passport. The agent asked me to stand for a cell phone photo. Then she instructed me to wait for the extension stamp to be entered in my passport. I held on to the ticket with my sequence number. The sign at Window #1 said the wait was "1-2 hours." The agent quoted "1 hour." I was tempted to go get coffee or a snack from one of vendors outside, but there was an open seat two feet away and I took it. Good thing I did because only 15 minutes later an agent showed up with a stack of passports and called out a series of sequence numbers. He did this quickly, and not very loudly. I approached Window #1 again and showed him my ticket. He returned my passport with the magic stamp and a receipt for my payment. If I had gone outside, I never would have heard him call my number. Who knows how long I would have waited after coming back inside before I figured out that my sequence number had already been called. With regard to AGENTS, I saw two or three of them shepherding clients through the process. All took cell phone photos of the clients -- I presume as evidence they had appeared in person. One agent went behind the scenes at Window #1 and did some kind of business with one of the agents. It may be that Manareet declined to act as my agent because they didn't want their employees horsing around in Jomtien. Perhaps the agents located near the immigration office are more willing to go over there to hold the hands of clients. But that's just speculation on my part. In any event, I managed to extend the 60-day visa exempt time period by 30 days, and I did it without using an agent. Thanks again to all who weighed in with tips and tricks.
