Ah, so it was 2 trips out of 5, so not quite so bad but definitely still high. I did wonder if i am more susceptible to NGU or if i just got really unlucky, perhaps its a mix of both. I have definitely avoided BJ bars which is a shame for me because i enjoy BJ as much as sex. First time round Pulse told me to go to Bumrungrad and ask for urology department, so thats what I did. The doc I saw asked me for my symptoms, asked if I was recently with a working girl, and sent me for the piss test. The test showed high white blood cells and he gave me the three antibiotics mentioned before. The second time, 1.5 years later, i saw the same doc and he didnt even want to do the urine test, just same treatment as last time, based on me reporting the same symptoms. If there is a next time (hopefully not) i will definitely bring up the swab test. I would much rather treat the actual problem rather than just taking the assortment of antibiotics and hoping one of them works.

Correct, both times too. This is the issue I had with taking the 'kitchen sink' of meds Pulse wanted to throw at me. Yes, no swabs done in Thailand, just enough medicine to wipe out whatever infection i might have had. Also, the second time at Bumrungrad, they tried to give me 28 days worth of doxy. I said that cannot be right, surely its 28 tabs in total, so 2 per day for 14 days? but no... I asked them to go back to the doctor to double check and they cut it down to 14 days. I dont know if they did that to avoid confrontation or if the doctor actually confirmed that 14 days was correct. When i came home i went to a local clinic and they did swab tests, but I was clean by that point. They also laughed at the amount of meds the doc's in Thailand are giving me. I will definitely be going to LifeCare, thanks again!

Amazing, thank you! And wow, i didnt expect it to be that cheap, i think pulse charges 5k+ for same day urine test alone. I will definitely make a note to look for LifeCare on my next visit. Sorry im getting mixed up, i meant to say NGU not UTI. My first one had symptoms of gonorrhea so i went to pulse and paid the 5+K for a same day piss test, which came back negative. They wanted to give me the ceftriaxone shot, 1g azithromycin and 7 day(?) doxy, plus moxiflocaxin, which i denied because i was freaked out by the side effects of the moxi and its not a standard STD treatment, at least in my country. I ended up going to bumrungrad, as recommended by pulse, did a piss test there and had high white blood cells or something, so they recommended the ceftriaxone shot, 1g azithromycin and doxy, which i took. Got better after a week maybe. That was 100% from a wood bar bj and it was my very first sexual encounter in Thailand! 😂 second time there was very brief unprotected sex, before i wised up and put a rubber on, with an ex LLT and one bj from someone else a day after, 2-3 days later i had symptoms. I did the same piss test at bumrungrad which didnt show any issues so i think it was an NGU or chlamydia. Same treatment minus the ceftriaxone shot and got better which suggests it probably was NGU or chlamydia i think...

How did it go, how quickly can you get the results and how much does it cost? I am arranging an LLT, and if it goes ahead (i've been let down before so I accept that she might flake) I want to get her tested early on because I've had UTI symptoms on two trips, and that means no sex for 10-15 days, in other words, the entire duration of my holiday. Both times were from BJs too which is annoying as i always thought that was low risk. This has led to me always worrying about BBBJs and takes away a lot of the enjoyment! Ideally I would like to get her tested for gonorrhea/chlamydia, throat and downstairs, then blood tests for the scary ones. I know there is a clinic on Buakhao recommended here, so would probably try there. Pulse from what Ive seen are very expensive, especially for quick results. I appreciate this isn't 100% foolproof either, both times i was infected, my piss tests showed no infection, but that's because i was symptomatic and tested within 4 days, i believe the infections take 2+ weeks to show on tests.

How do you respond to money requests when back home?

thanks for all the replies. Im not looking for an excuse, like 'cant afford it right now', 'bank doesnt allow foreign payments', becasue that tells them they might have luck in the future. I want to set the precedent that im not OK with sending money over while im not there. Im also not looking to be as blunt as 'no' and block them, i do like them and want to see them again. This might change depending on how they respond to me declining their request... Im just going to go with the below, 'sorry cannot', and change the subject. I already did this with one girl and quickly received 'why', havent messaged her since 😂 -
For the first time, and all in a very short window, ive been hit with money requests from 3 girls who know I will be back in Pattaya soon. They have just asked for drinks, but i know that if i send money it will become a recurring theme, money for sick buffalo, car accident, hospital fees (i think those are the common ones). I have just said 'sorry i not do' to two of them because i dont really care if that makes them dislike me and I dont see them again, but now one that i like has asked too 😆 I dont want to send money for drinks because i know it wont stop there and i know that the girls are texting multiple men the same thing. Questions: how do you politely shutdown requests to send money for the ones you would like to see again. or, do you just send money for drinks if/when they ask? i assume if they are asking to send money then they are expecting a decent amount too like a rack or two...

Its £522 Oman vs £1100 EVA, so its quite significant, but also not a direct comparison. The EVA allows you to choose your seat, Oman is cheapest fare available so i imagine it doesnt. the thing that annoys me is that the 2 previous years I paid £940 and £840 for an EVA flight of equal spec. I understand that prices go up, but when competitors are offering flights at half the price... I do agree with you, i have always paid the 'premium' of flying with EVA for the direct flight because it is less overall travel time, so more time in LOS, and it is just easier - get on a plane, sleep, get off the plane, done. but the cost of that premium seems to be getting stretched and at some point will no longer be worth it for me. misplaced luggage is not an issue for me as i go carryon only. -

tracking flights EVA air, LHR to BKK end of Jan and its looking like it will be £1100. since 2023, each year it seems to increase about £120. I like EVA because its direct but at some point ill have to start looking at the alternatives. Oman Air for example have flights at close to half of that with only a 2hr stopover in the middle east. -

10 day TAC do they have to bar fine ??
jbangkok7000 replied to disconoddy's topic in Barstool Banter
seems i cant edit this comment but i meant 80 drinks and 5 BF's per 10 days! she even paid her own bar fine one day when i wasnt up to it but said she could stay with me anyway. i wonder if they pay the full rate (like 2500baht before 10pm or whatever it is) or if it counts towards their quota. -

Ive just looked through the T&Cs of both Wise and Revolut and both of them have some form of limit on ATM withdrawals before applying a percentage charge to each withdrawal. So, i will continue taking a lump of cash and using a card for ATM withdrawals when im running low on the cash i exchanged. My card allows me free ATM withdrawals but a limit per month, no foreign transaction fees otherwise so i can use it for hotels and expensive restaurants.

Bringing vapes to patts
jbangkok7000 replied to brokenheart's topic in By the Fireside - Pattaya/Thailand Topics
I mean, i started the comment with "You could, if you want, use this as an opportunity to try quitting.", added "If you dont care for quitting" and then gave advice on getting vapes in Thailand. I just offered that advice because i know that when i wanted to quit, it seemed impossible to do at home, but wasnt difficult at all in thailand.
