Park Plaza Sukhumvit

Recommended Posts

I stayed at the Park Plaza last year. It was reasonable value for money at around 2500 baht per night including taxes but not breakfast. I'm not planning on staying there again.

Pros:

- Almost new

- Free internet (can't remember if it was lan or wifi)

- 2 free computers in the foyer if you need them

- Well appointed rooms

- A little bit removed from the Sukhumvit ghetto

- Guest Friendly

- Pool and gym open on the room accessible 24 hours

- Good working desk

- Complimentary paper

- Close to Cowboy, MRT & BTS

- The restaurant on the 1st Floor (not Ground) has self service cookies and drinks although they were pretty basic such as fruit juice.

Cons:

- Difficult to access by vehicle as turning onto Ratchadaphisek from Sukhumvit you have to go all the way down to Rama IV to do a U turn. Not the end of the world but annoying.

- To get to the pool and gym on the roof you need to walk up a flight of stairs which were very warm. Not a huge problem but it's not something I'm used to at a 4 star hotel.

- Service in the restaurant was poor.

Nice review. Glad to see I'm not the only one that likes posting pics of the light switches. :rolleyes:

Very good post - and I appreciate seeing the bathroom facilities. Most hotels completely ignore this in their photos (on purpose, I'm sure). And yes - good to see others with a eye for wall switches.

I landed at the Ibis last time and the Hard Rock the time before, so I know 2 decent hotels but on this trip I'm looking for something closer to WS, but also with a jacuzzi.

It's great to find this forum - I'll dig through the reports here and see if anything hits the mark. Thanks for the reports!

I was looking at it for July. It was going for $65 or so, now you can't find it for less than $100. Too bad. wj

Wj,

Suspect they will extend their current 2,700 Baht price in July, like they did in April. Will of course keep u informed.

I found my rate directly on their website so maybe work at look. You can join their goldenpoints program which I think got me a cheaper rate again.

Sorry the rate on the hotel website is more expensive after you add their taxes.

My rate included taxes but it was last year when it was fairly new. I'm not saying this rate is available now.

anyone stayed here recently ,is it still girl friendly

i usually stay at the Darwin or the Dynasty Grande for a couple of nights before i fly home but they close their pools early and this place advertises a 24hr rooftop pool , nothing better than 4am after shagging your bird in your room , going and sitting alone by a pool with a beer listening to the sounds of the city in the background

Edited by gareth

"And were you pleased?" they asked Helen in Hell.

"Pleased?" answered she,when all Troy's towers fell;

And dead were Priam´s sons, and lost his throne?

And such a war was fought as none had known;

And even the Gods took part; and all because

Of me alone! Pleased?

I should say I was!"
