    HOOTERS. What’s the deal?

It made me laugh, when they first shut the bars. Hooters doing take away/delivery only. Without the girls why would anyone go there, just very overpriced not very special food,

Still holding Grandstand tickets so loving the positive noises but not daring to be optimistic. Reschuled date of Oct 4 is gone but Nov-Dec is still there if Thai Gov agree to spectators. Long way off but they have to decide by this month end if they could agree to that and a business bubble for teams. Probably both Thailand and Malaysia could be viable without tourist travel and it would be pretty neat if there could be an Asian double header. Everything crossed here anyway.

I expect they'll get a pass like I believe the F1 has arranged for some of their races.

  14. I have always called the airline with whom I booked the award travel, either Alaska or AA, for any changes to my itinerary. I just did it for my February trip - no charge for changes at this time. The only thing that I have done on Cathay's site is seat selection (I don't think that they have had a Book the Cook type feature in the past). As for the change to my February trip, a friend said he and bunch of other guys would be in Bangkok for a convention right around when I was scheduled to arrive. I went in and moved my arrival up a day, only to have him tell me about a week later that they will be there in March, NOT February....sigh...then again -- assuming I can get into the country -- it means an extra day in paradise for me! 5555

Long Haul Business Class for under $2K (Long Post)

Sorry for the thread spam with a slightly off topic question, but this is probably the best place to ask. I finally made my peace with Aug/Sept most likely not happening for a trip to BKK. I have outbound on AA award and return on Alaska award, both on CX planes. Both itineraries show up in my "manage bookings" on CX's website. Neither will allow me to make chances online. Neither were "eligible for online changes". I was kind of expecting that given these aren't MPC or Asia Miles awards. Anyone have any experience with this? Am I going to have to call AA and then AS separately? Or can I just call CX? Any info to reduce my phone experience would be greatly appreciated. On one very minor up shot, looks like CX's website finally recognizes AA/AS' booking reference numbers. I still wish they would just consolidate to using just one number, but I guess that would be too easy.

A really good win against Birmingham after conceding early on. Decent performance. 3 tough games coming up; Leeds, Forest, Bristol City.

Don't think the teams will tolerate the 14 day quarantine.
  19. I would say that it is indeed about their locations. Sandbar has a decent assortment of Farang and Thai dishes on their menu. I have never ordered the Thai dishes there. The GF has tried them and said pet mak mak (too spicy) a couple of times. The ambience is several levels above Surf Kitchen. The same guy owns Sands Cafe over on soi 5 in the Cozy Beach area. Very good IMO and a nice walk in along Dongtan Beach from the Police Station. May's Urban Dining on Thepprasit has excellent Bangkok style Thai food, but no Farang food as I recall. Cafe le Mar has good not great Thai and Farang food, certainly better than Surf Kitchen. They are currently closed for extensive remodeling. Mr. Moo's on soi 7 (also currently closed for remodeling) has better food, both Thai and Farang, than Surf Kitchen and is considerably cheaper.
  20. Surf Kitchen has been my go to for a decade. Last year, (actually this calendar year but somehow feels an aeon ago) bit put off by 1. Green chicken curry (their signature dish) clipping up from 99 baht. 2.Occasionally very slow service especially from the "gep tang" till the bill finally comes. 3. More smokers than I would like, (many Russians like it), of course I prefer zero (smokers -not Russians do not care about them unless they smoke). 4.Suddenly government tax appeared (about 7%). Do not know if that is because I became a bit free with the orders or the restaurant has been reclassified. Anyone know? Unfortunately I am not one of the governments choice high grade tourists and this is enough to have me in Opal house 50 metres along. Kiss is really just a tin cup with ideas above its ability, zero dining pleasure, prefer the kebab stand alongside.
  21. Pretty much every hotel in Pattaya are girl friendly, maybe some hotels may ask you to pay up between 300 to 400 B for a guest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good news for Thailand. Still no word for December though.
  25. Be Interested in knowing about other thai farang food places that are better than Surf Kitchen and Kiss restaurant in Jomtien?? as both these 2 are very busy places so they must be doing something right...or is it just because of their good locations?? The thai food at Surf is nice but would agree the farang foods are avge. They do have a sushi bar and make their own cakes and ice creams which have always been very nice too.
